The Backwater Blues Band was founded in 1995 by Tom Stewart as an outlet to play music that is revered among the many friends and family that would come to Tom's house parties. Over time the band "broke out" of the garage and started playing San Diego's finest establishments. Come hear for yourself the great Blues tones that Backwater Blues Band creates!
Many musicians have passed through the clutches of the Backwater Blues Band's ranks. Some of the finest local musicians have been involved with the band.
Sometimes the Backwater Blues Band has special guests "sit in" and join the blues conversation. Whoever is on the stage, you can be guaranteed that your listening experience will be a very positive and groovy thing! |

Mark “Doc” Holladay spent his formative years marveling at the awesome Hammond B3 and Leslie sounds of the classic rock organists of the time, including Jon Lord (Deep Purple), Felix Cavaliere (Rascals), Greg Rollie (Santana), Gregg Allman, Mark Stein (Vanilla Fudge) and Goldy McJohn (Steppenwolf).

A professional drummer since High School, he has played with such artists as Ike Turner, Bruce Hornsby, Tommy Castro, and many others.

Val L'Heureux is a versatile bassist that has been performing for over three decades. Some of the National Artists Val has performed and toured with are Bobby Hatfield, James Ingram, Rosemary Clooney, Lucky Peterson, and Vinnie Colaiuta.
